We see lots of offers for free trials. It is a good marketing strategy for businesses because it gives consumers the opportunity to try the service . However we should read the fine print if we decide to take advantage of free trials.
Most companies ask for our credit card information up front. If we have a 30 day trial and do not cancel within the time , we will be charged and may not notice it till we receive the bill .
Depending on the terms of the contract you may end up paying for an entire year or atleast for the numer of months that it took fo you to ealize that you forgot to cancel.
I learned a lesson many years ago when I got 10 books for $1/ and found that I signed up for a book club and they sent me books every month . It took me some time before I got out of that one. I had to pay shipping costs for books that I did not want to buy and had to buy a minimum number of books that year.
If you sign up for free trials write down the date in your calendar so you know when you can either decide to continue or cancel.
When you read about events please check the year for the event as some people find information a year later and think it is for that year. . The posts remain online even after the event.
