Philadelphia, Bucks and Montgomery Counties Real Estate. Tips for home buyers, home sellers by Gita Bantwal,Realtor at Re/Max Centre Realtors.: Do people move in Fall? Should I list my house in Fall?

Do people move in Fall? Should I list my house in Fall?

People move throughout the year. Many people prefer to move in summer before Labor day if they want their kids to be registered in the school district at the start of the school year but this does not mean that people do not move at other times.

Home owners are wondering whether they should list their home now or wait until spring of 2015 because they think now is not a good time.

Yes people also move in fall.

1. There are people relocating because of their jobs. They have to move based on their job.

2. There are people whose kids have grown up or they do not have kids. They can move any time.

3.People who find a home in the same school district as their current home can move any time.

4.Sometimes people have to move because of change in circumstances - financial or health reasons.

5. People who have to sell their home before they move, will move when they  sell their home. This can happen in the Fall.

Here are some interesting statistics for residential listings that settled in Warminster in 2013.

Good morning, Gita.... the fall and winter months have always been strong months for my team....I'm encouraged that it will continue this year, too....

Gita, I'm not sure how to access the statistics as the dates don't seem to have links.  Here in northeast Florida as well as in Williamsburg Virgina, the market is good in the fall.  I think some buyers wait until after the summer tourist season is over.

Gita, although real estate tends to slow here after Thanksgiving things are always moving and with the right agent and marketing things will always sell. You're the agent to contact in the Bucks County area.

Gita- some people think not but we've sold and purchased many of our own homes in the fall because of work transfers.

Gita - those statistics dispels that myth.  Looks like strong sales in Warminister year round and it is for the reasons your mentioned.

The fall and winter months can be good .. on the east coast, it really depends on the weather.

Hi GIta, here in WV real estate slows down quite a bit because of the cold and snow. Most buyers don't like the thought of potential buyers and agents tracking snow thru their homes..

Great post Gita.  Yes, people still need to move at all times of the year.  And, very often there's less competition with other listings in the fall.
