Philadelphia, Bucks and Montgomery Counties Real Estate. Tips for home buyers, home sellers by Gita Bantwal,Realtor at Re/Max Centre Realtors.: September 24 was National punctuation day

September 24 was National punctuation day

September 24 is recognized as National Punctuation day. I am sorry I forgot to write this post on the 24th.

It was founded by Jeff Rubin 10 years ago.

I know most people do not use punctuation marks when they text. In  fact I saw a texting dictionary at the store the other day.

I have a client who likes to text but no one can understand some of her messages because she just writes the first letter of a word and  the last letter of the word and I am supposed to guess what she is saying.

I just pick up the phone when I get such messages and talk to her .

When you read about events please check the year for the event as some people find information a year later and think it is for that year. . The posts remain online even after the event.

I like texting short and sweet.

I am not a fan of texting at all, but I am a fan of punctuation.  Interesting that there is a day for it!

Text is the communication of choice for many and punctuating properly is becoming a lost skill

Gita: I could use a punctuation lesson, especially where texting is concerned. Have a blessed Saturday!

I try to punctuate in a way that appears I know what I am doing. When faced with uncertainty I rewrite to avoid the decision no comma, comma, no comma...

Gita, one of my best friends is an English teacher and she won't even use the text abbreviations, it just goes against her core.

Amanda, I am glad there is a day for it.

Sally, I agree it has become a lost skill.

Anita, I wonder why they do not use punctuation when they text.

Gary, Good idea to write it and rewrite to see if it makes sense.

Kristin, I am sure you did.

Sybil, I can understand how she feels.I do not like them either.

Aaron, Thank you.

Texting does play a very important and convenient place in our lives today. My family of 9 adult children, grandchildren, etc. are scattered basically across the US (Orlando, Tampa, Chicago, Green Bay, Kansas City, Idaho, San Diego) -  from the East Coast to the Hawaiian Islands (Oahu and the Big Island). In a matter of seconds we can be in communication. Immediately a number of us are in group messaging. You will see quite a variety of punctuation:) Fairly sure we all missed honoring the September 24th day -  National Punctuation Day.

Good morning Gita,

It is interesting that there is a National Puctioation Day, when I text, I include (,) (?) etc. It does become time consuming, so I use the voice text and half the time I need to correct it. Gita, thank you for the awareness of the holiday......
